Bois de Merveilles
music: Malice Mizer, Lyrics: Gackt C.
Silent fairies*...calm all the anger
Silent fairies...pardon the sinners to come
This voice will fly on the wind through the earth and forests
And find a way to grant my prayer
Shizuka naru youseitachi
yo...sebete no ikari o shizume
Shizuka naru youseitachi yo...tsumibito o yurushite okure
Kono utagoe wa soyokaze to tomo ni mori to daichi o kakenukete inori o
kanaeru
Oh silent fairies...pardon my sins
Until I am forgiven I will continue to sing
Until this voice dies away
Shizuka naru youseitachi
yo...watashi no okashita tsumi o
Yurushite moraeru made watashi wa utai tsuzukeru
Kono koe ga naku naru made
* "The Forest of Wonders" or "The Forest
of Merveilles", that being the name of the album
* Shizuka (ni) naru youseitachi yo! is actually literally
an invocation to "the fairies who are becoming quiet".
That doesn't sound all that good in a song though.
I personally think it means that they're giving up or disappearing from
this world.
It's lovely, isn't it? This is another
one of their songs that has a strong image association with it,
one that's pretty much like the background picture on the CD jacket. I
also think of
the seventh circle of hell from Dante's Inferno where all of the suicides
go.
They are turned into trees and as Dante and Virgil are walking through
Dante accidentally
breaks one of the branches, causing it to ooze blood. It's like that,
a living forest full of dead trees.
If you wanted to make it symbolic you could add a unicorn and continue
past the forest,
and then blame that for the band's breakup.
Was that confusing? *wicked grin*
