lapis lazuli

song: Hora/ lyrics: Kaya

Longing for the sound that echo even now
I found myself following nothing but slender tracks on the ground

"See you again someday"
Your calmly spoken words repeat and surround me

Why didn't I go to meet you back then...

ima mo hibite iru oto ni kogarenagara
hosoi kiseki dake o tadori aruite kita

[mata itsuka] nante
odayaka na koe no anata no kotoba ga kurikaeshi mawaru

ano toki doushite ai ni ikanakata n darou

I fall into a dream and along the way
Entwined fingers release their hold
While your shadow far, far away grows hazy and disolves
I lower my gaze I cover my ears
I shut myself off from the world
My eyes close amidst a fleeting dream of lapis lazuli blue

yume ni ochiru sono tochuu de
tsunagu yubi ga hanarete
tooku tooku anata no kage kasande kieteku
hitomi o fuse mimi o fusaide
nani mo ka mo tozasu no
ruriiro shita awai yume no naka de me o tojite

Don't say a word
Don't ask a thing
Just to be there by your side
Only that would have been enough but still...

nani mo iwanaide
nani mo kikanaide
soba ni iru dake de
sore dake yokatta no ni

With a seemly closed off gentle gaze
And a soft smile you raise your hand farewell
I'll carve your image deep, deep in the depths of my heart

shimeta you na yasashii mezashi
yawaraka na emi to te o furu sugata o
kokoro no oku e to fukaku fukaku kizamu no

A forever lost voice, a forever lost place
The traces of a far off sparkling dream
Forever gone days, a forever gone soul
Far off the sun does fall

kaeranu koe kaeranu basho
haruka kirameku yumeato
kaeranu hibi kaeranu hito
kanata no rakujitsu

Amidst my solitude dyed over in blue
I search with fumbling hands
I can't yet see the answer
So I continue to dream on still

aoi somaru kodoku no naka
tesaguri de sagashiteiru
kotae wa mada mienai kara mata yume o miru

I fall into a dream and along the way
Entwined fingers release their hold
While your shadow far, far away grows hazy and disolves
I lower my gaze I cover my ears
I shut myself off from the world
My eyes close amidst a fleeting dream of lapis lazuli blue

yume ni ochiru sono tochuu de
tsunagu yubi ga hanarete
tooku tooku anata no kage kasande kieteku
hitomi o fuse mimi o fusaide
nani mo ka mo tozasu no
ruriiro shita awai yume no naka de me o tojite

Umm...yo. lol. It's been a while hasn't it.
So long that I'd forgotten how horrible the site's coding was. So long that Kaya may have possibly started exhibiting more catlady symptoms than Hora...

Anyhow, this is SS's first new song from their renewed activity. As to why they restarted activity with this song I have no idea, considering the old SS was all like SODOMY, and when Hora writes songs for Kaya's solo project it's usually all SODOMY. But then they get together again and it's suddenly all about SOMETHING NOT SODOMY. Well, at least probably not sodomy. I dunno. I'm not a sodomy expert.

So some background on lapis lazuli. As a stone it was highly valued back in the days and often included in tombs with the dead to help protect them. Nowadays it is more associated with truth and spirituality.

That said, the phrase "kaeranu hito" in the lyrics is usually used to refer to the dearly departed. So I'm guessing this song is about someone who's dead, or at least someone who can't be reached anymore. But then that's just my thinking. I had trouble deciding which pronouns to use throughout this song.
