Kuro Ageha

song: Hora/ lyrics: Kaya

To think my once beautiful wings
have become this dirty
I won't return a stale promise twice;
peircing scenes hurt so
I'll pull apart this useless body for you
and offer it in pieces
Take me from this place

I'm so tired of seeing this polluted world
My decomposed common sense, my scorn,
I devote my all to you
So I beg of you...take me from this place

Watashi no kirei datta
hane wa konnani made mo
fukaku yogorete shimatta
Hikarabita yakusoku wa
nido to kaeranai wa
Tsukisasaru joukei ga itamu no
Imi no nai karada nado
hikichigiri sasageru wa
Koko kara tsuredashite

Kegarawashii sekai nado
Mou unzari na no yo
Furan shita joushiki mo
choushou mo Nani mo kamo
subete sasageru kara
Onegai yo
Koko kara tsuredashite

In Japanese, "Kuro Ageha" means "black swallowtail". Back in 2003 I took a trip to Japan and stayed with my father's friend in a little town about 2 hours north of Kyoto called Miyazu. As is with most of the Japanese countryside, it was very beautiful, but completely lacking of anything. The father of the house's idea of fun was taking me to the local bar and listening to me sing karaoke...(laughs)
But on the last day we took a trip to a shinto complex at the top of the tallest moutain in the region. The view from the top of the mountaintop was amazing, with bluish mountains fading into the sky and forests and waterways stretching out as far as the eye could see. And when I looked over the end into the trees below I saw them, dozens of large, black butterflies floating back and forth among the foliage, flickering in and out amongst the sunlight. As I was watching them the wind picked up.

Now I'm not given to religion (religion is the reputational kiss of death for anthropologists), but at that moment I think I felt something much greater than myself.
It was like meeting with a god.

Incidentially, my dad's friend was rose-mania, and so her entire house smelled like roses (laughs) There were rose drape...cushions...flowerpots...teapots... wallpaper...but she kept poking me.

That aside, "Ageha" is the name of a dance club located in Shinkiba. It holds events irregularly, and some of them are gay only, etc. However annoying that may be, the club itself is in good reputation, and sometimes the DJ's will travel to other places to help out at other events.

I've never been there, but on Kaya's birthday, coincidentially enough, a couple of the DJ's and performers came to help out at the kick-off party for the week long gay and lesbian film festival (hosted and planned by the lovely Margarett and co.) The DJ's were okay, and the act, identical twins who sang The Peanuts "Koi no Bakansu," was rather not so okay, but all in all it was a nice atmosphere~ I imagine the real place is a lot more crowded. For anyone who likes dancing it's probably worth checking out ^^

Kaya mentioned he went there in one of his diary entries. I don't know for sure if it's related to the song title, but in dance clubs with a lot of people you can feel like you're in another world...

People *even Margarett* kept looking at me like, "why aren't you dancing weirdo?" but...oh well, that
