So when I was in Japan last year, I had a lot of mermaid moments. Like, it's hard to explain, so I won't...but when I saw this song title, I thought of mermaids again, naturally. And then I had an epiphaneyie. It goes like this... When I was younger, I was terrified of becoming sea foam like the little mermaid. But as I got older that changed, and I came to like the idea of having my body disappear and sink into the water. I wouldn't be able to live on land with the prince, because then I couldn't sing either, and that would be angsty. Don't you love that word, angsty? It's so useful... "Why didn't you come to my lame party?" "I was angsty" "Why did you translate Meties lyrics instead of writing your dissertation that's due in 3 days?!" "...I was angsty." See?
